LCSD is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity for our 8th-grade students. Starting this school year,
students in 8 th grade may take Family and Consumer Science (FACS) and/or Survey of Agriculture for
high school credit. This change reflects our commitment to providing advanced learning opportunities and helping students get a head start on their high school education.

The high school Survey of Agriculture and Family and Consumer Science course will be offered as an
elective for students to take in 8 th grade. These classes will be taught at a high school level, providing
rigorous and comprehensive instruction that will better prepare students for their future academic and
career endeavors.

We believe this initiative will benefit our students by allowing them to advance more quickly through
their high school coursework, giving them greater flexibility in their high school schedules and more
opportunities to explore a variety of subjects and career pathways. We encourage you to discuss this
opportunity with your child and inform them of the prestige of receiving high school credit while in
Junior High.
