Lafayette County Schools to Offer Embedded

LCSD is pleased to inform you of an exciting new development at Lafayette County High School for the upcoming 2024-2025 school year. Beginning this school year, 10th grade students enrolled in our 10th grade Embedded English and Oral Communication course will have the unique opportunity to receive both their Oral Communication credit and 10th grade English credit simultaneously.

This enhancement is made possible thanks to our recent course approval from the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) to offer an integrated curriculum that combines these two critical subjects. Our Embedded English and Oral Communication course is designed to enrich our students’ learning experience by integrating the skills and content of both disciplines into a cohesive and comprehensive program.

Key benefits of this integrated approach include:

  1. 1.Enhanced Learning Experience: Students will engage in a curriculum that intertwines the principles of English literature and language with effective communication skills, promoting a deeper understanding and more practical application of both subjects.
  2. 2.Efficient Credit Earning: By taking this combined course, students can earn the necessary credits for both 10th grade English and Oral Communication within a single class period, allowing for more flexibility in their schedules for other academic pursuits or extracurricular activities.
  3. 3.Skill Synergy: The integrated course structure will better prepare students for future academic and
professional endeavors by developing their abilities in critical thinking, public speaking, and written communication in a unified manner.

We believe this innovative approach will greatly benefit our students and are excited to implement it in the coming school year. We encourage you to discuss this opportunity with your child and consider how it might fit into their academic plan.
If you have any questions or need further information, please do not hesitate to contact the high school office at (870) 533-4464. We look forward to a great year and are grateful for your continued support.
