Books From Bobby is Addressing Food Access in Lafayette County

We are excited to announce an important partnership aimed at tackling food insecurity in the Lafayette County community. Nearly half a million Arkansans do not have adequate access to healthy, fresh foods in the communities in which they live. Books From Bobby, Inc. believe that everyone deserves access to nutritious food, and they are committed to making this a reality for many residents in Lafayette County especially those households with children under the age of 18.

Stacie Mitchell-Gweah, states, “In our Lafayette County community, we recognize the challenges faced by many families who struggle with food insecurity and increased food prices. Growing up in Stamps, Arkansas during the 70’s and 80’s, we had at least seven grocery stores just in Stamps. Now in 2024, we do not have one grocery store in the city limits.” “This is extremely disharding, however, as the principal of Lafayette County Elementary School and the mayor of Stamps, I am  deeply committed to the well-being of our students and their families; we have taken proactive steps to address this issue head-on.
