Arkansas Police Chief Accused of Felony Kidnapping and Assault

Michael Henderson Pitts, the 45-year-old chief of police in Eudora, Arkansas, has found himself in the custody of the Arkansas State Police, as per their official statement.

In a series of events that took place on Tuesday, January 30th, Pitts was detained and formally charged with the serious crime of felony kidnapping. This grave accusation is traced back to a situation that unfolded in October of 2023.

Details provided by the Arkansas State Police unravel the narrative of events, revealing that Pitts was summoned to handle a disruptive individual at a gas station in Eudora. This initial disturbance was merely the prelude to the ensuing allegations.

The incident took a turn for the worse when Pitts reportedly instigated an unlawful detention of the individual causing the disturbance, who has since been identified as 49-year-old John Hill Jr. Pitts is alleged to have transported Hill to an isolated location within the premises of Chicot County.

Following this unauthorized relocation, officials maintain that Pitts assaulted Hill in this secluded area, causing injury and leaving Hill in a state of distress and abandonment in the remote location.

Showing an arguably commendable act of submitting to law and order, Pitts voluntarily surrendered himself to the Chicot County Sheriff’s Office. Here, his bond was determined and subsequently fixed at a sum of $5,000.
