Protest on I-40 Bridge Shuts Down Traffic

The Arkansas Highway Police (AHP), a division of the Arkansas Department of Transportation, will close the eastbound lanes of the Interstate 40 Mississippi River Bridge today between 4-5 p.m.

Traffic will divert to Interstate 55 South in West Memphis. The exit ramps at Highway 38 (MLK Boulevard) and Highway 131 (Mound City Road) will also be closed.

The Tennessee Highway Patrol will close the westbound I-40 lanes across the Mississippi River Bridge.

The closures will remain in place until the protests’ completion. Arkansas Highway Police and Arkansas State Police will work together to ensure the safety of the traveling public and our infrastructure.

The demonstration appears to be in support of Palestine amid fighting in Gaza.
