Signature Collection Will Start For FOIA Amendment

After Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin signed off on the wording for a proposed constitutional amendment to strengthen the state’s Freedom of Information Act, the group behind the effort, Arkansas Citizens for Transparency, can now begin collecting signatures to get its proposal on the November ballot. Griffin also certified the ballot title and popular name for the proposed amendment, which would establish government transparency as a right for Arkansas citizens and make it more difficult for the state legislature to change the Arkansas Freedom of Information Act.After Arkansas Attorney General Tim Griffin signed off on the wording for a proposed constitutional amendment to strengthen the state’s Freedom of Information Act, the group behind the effort, Arkansas Citizens for Transparency, can now begin collecting signatures to get its proposal on the November ballot.
